Health & Safety

Self-assessment from UTP concerning quality, environmental protection and operational safety.

Our self-concept

As one of the leading manufacturers of welding consumables we are totally aware of our responsibility for our customers, the environment and our workforce. Therefore we do not only commit ourselves to observe the relevant prescriptions and laws by our business policy, but to continuously improve our performance with respect to quality, environmental protection an operational safety. To guarantee this, we work according to a certified Integrated Management System (IMS) in which the guidelines of the standards DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 and DIN EN ISO 14001:2004 as well as the specifications of the "Occupational Health- and Risk Management System - OHRIS" have been implemented.

The current legislation in the environmental and health protection

Especially in the field of environmental and health protection many new laws have been passed or extensively altered. Numerous questions which finally reach us as suppliers result from this development. Often the complete compliance with nearly all legal prescriptions is demanded - even in cases when application to our products does not exist.

We kindly ask you to understand that we are unable to respond to such general circulars. This would neither be respectable, nor would come up to our own high level of expectations to inform you factually and to support you.

Environmental and occupational safety aspects when using our products

Our welding consumables are consumption products. Please refer to the corresponding safety data sheet of the individual product to find out which precautions are to be taken when processing our products and how to dispose of the generated waste materials respectively residues. Due to our extensive product range general indications are unfortunately impossible.

Utilisation in the vehicle construction as well as in electric and electronic equipment

The fields of application for our products are as numerous as our products. The weld metal can therefore also be found in electric or electronic equipment as well as in vehicles.

Substances belonging to the category of interdicted substances according to § 5 ElektroG dated 16 March 2005 (implementation of the RoHS - RL 2002/95/EG and the WEEE - RL 2002/96/EG), latest alteration from 31 July 2009, resp. according to article 4 paragraph 2 letter a) of the RL 2000/53/EG dated 18 September 2000, latest alteration from 23 August 2008 (end-of-life vehicles), have never been added to our products, already due to technical reasons. To ensure the high level of quality the raw materials purchased from qualified suppliers undergo strict incoming components inspections at our own in-house laboratories.

The appropriate utilisation of our welding consumables in accordance with the valid regulations guarantees that the limit values of 0.1 % by weight for lead, mercury and hexavalent chromium as well as 0.01 % by weight for cadmium in the pure weld metal as a homogeneous substance are observed.
